This self-regulation activity explains self-regulation while allowing students to externalize their feelings to a chameleon. Separating their feelings from their identity makes it easier for younger students to understand their feelings and helps them to feel more in control of their emotions and actions.
Just as the chameleon's colors change, our feelings and actions change depending on which emotions we are experiencing. Students will learn which feelings and actions are associated with each emotion and will receive suggestions for how to regulate their emotions.
What Color is Your Chameleon? Includes:
- Teacher / Counselor's Guide
- Handouts/Story Book to explain how our feelings and behaviors change in each emotion
- A worksheet component to help students apply the information to their daily life by reflecting on recent situations
BENEFITING STUDENTS
Students will learn self-regulation skills they can use at home and at school. In addition, they will learn how to self-monitor their emotions and identify constructive responses to them.
SAVING TIME
With easy-to-implement activities, this lesson is very low-prep. Simply print out the lesson before students arrive.
